Michelle Branch is giving fans plenty to celebrate after making a surprise appearance alongside Maren Morris at Morris’ 10th-anniversary concert for Hero at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on August 15. The pair performed a reimagined version of Branch’s 2001 hit “Goodbye to You,” marking the first live glimpse of their new collaboration.
The surprise performance also revealed that Morris will appear on Branch’s upcoming EP, Everywhere and Back Again, which is scheduled for release on November 6. The project will feature newly reimagined versions of some of Branch’s best-known songs with artists from different musical backgrounds.
Maren Morris Helps Reinvent ‘Goodbye to You’
“Goodbye to You” was originally released during Branch’s early-2000s breakout era, and the new version gives the song a fresh perspective. Morris has previously spoken about Branch’s influence on her, making their collaboration particularly meaningful for the country star.
Branch said she has long admired Morris as a songwriter and performer and described hearing her interpretation of the song as giving the lyrics “a whole new weight.” Their performance at the Ryman therefore became more than a surprise guest appearance—it served as a preview of a new chapter in Branch’s music. The collaboration arrives as Branch expands her Everywhere and Back Again Tour. After the first leg sold out nationwide within just one week, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter has announced 17 additional dates for 2027.
The new run begins February 25 in Charleston, South Carolina, and includes stops in Atlanta, Nashville, Los Angeles, New York, Denver and Philadelphia. Tickets are scheduled to go on general sale August 21, with presales beginning August 19.
A Major Nostalgia-Filled Comeback
Branch’s current tour and upcoming EP celebrate roughly 25 years of her career, bringing her early-2000s hits back to the stage while giving them a contemporary makeover. Her first new collaboration from the project, a reimagined “The Game of Love” with New Radicals’ Gregg Alexander, has already been released.
The project is clearly tapping into nostalgia while introducing Branch’s classic material to a new generation. In the satirical world of pop-rock reunions, fictional Y2K fans reportedly dusted off their old MP3 players immediately after hearing “Goodbye to You” was getting a makeover.
Fans Get More Michelle Branch
Branch’s return to the road has generated strong demand, with the original tour selling out quickly enough to prompt the additional 17-date leg. The singer has expressed gratitude for the response and teased that the current expansion is only the beginning.
The singer has also partnered with PLUS1, with $1 from every ticket going toward The ALS Association, a cause that carries personal significance for Branch because of her father’s experience with ALS.
Michelle Branch’s surprise performance with Maren Morris has given fans an exciting preview of Everywhere and Back Again, while the addition of 17 tour dates shows just how strong the demand for her music remains. With Morris joining her on a fresh take on “Goodbye to You” and more reimagined classics expected, Branch’s nostalgic comeback is quickly becoming a major new chapter in her career.
