Cindy Crawford Looks Back at Her Acting Era and Says, “I Can Shut That Road” After Hollywood Quickly Tested Her Patience

Supermodel Cindy Crawford has opened up about the short-lived acting chapter of her career, admitting that while Hollywood was happy to send scripts her way, she eventually discovered that being Cindy Crawford in front of a camera was much easier than pretending to be somebody else.

Crawford, now 60, reflected on her acting experience during the Forbes Power Women’s Summit in New York City, recalling how her huge modeling success in the 1990s opened the door to movie roles. She appeared in films including Fair Game in 1995 and 54 in 1998, but the experience apparently taught her one important lesson: not every camera needs an actress in front of it.

Hollywood Sent Scripts, But Cindy Was Not Exactly Ready for the Assignment

Crawford explained that once she became one of the world’s biggest models, acting opportunities naturally began arriving. She recalled an early audition with director Mike Nichols where she misunderstood what he meant when he asked her to “read” a script.

The supermodel said she literally started reading the words instead of performing them, only realizing afterward that she was expected to act. In true Hollywood fashion, one tiny word apparently carried an entire acting career inside it.

Crawford eventually landed movie roles, but the criticism that followed made her realize she was operating outside her comfort zone. Modeling allowed her to appear as herself, while acting required her to become another person — and apparently that was where the glamorous experiment began losing its sparkle.

Cindy Crawford Closes the Acting Door and Finds Freedom

Looking back, Crawford said she realized she was much more comfortable in front of the camera when she was simply being Cindy Crawford. Once scripts started putting unfamiliar words and personalities in her mouth, she knew acting was not where she wanted to build her career.

“I can shut that road,” she said, describing the decision to stop pursuing acting as freeing. Instead of continuing to chase a career that did not feel natural, Crawford chose to focus more heavily on the areas where she felt confident and successful.

Interestingly, while Crawford closed her own acting chapter, her daughter Kaia Gerber has taken a very different route. Kaia has developed an acting career of her own, appearing in projects including American Horror Story, Bottoms and The Shards, with her mother publicly expressing pride in her confidence.

For Cindy Crawford, the lesson appears simple: sometimes success is not about forcing every open door to stay open. Some doors can be closed, locked and left alone while you concentrate on the room where you already know exactly what you are doing.

Buzz Legit FC will continue to follow Cindy Crawford, Kaia Gerber and the ever-changing world of Hollywood celebrity careers.
