The divorce battle between reality TV personalities Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright has taken another dramatic turn, with Taylor asking a judge to order his estranged wife to pay him $17,000 monthly in spousal support, alongside a reported $250,000 in attorney’s fees. Apparently, the former couple’s relationship may be over, but the financial negotiations are still very much alive.
According to a new report on court documents, Taylor claims he has been left without a reliable source of income following the end of his regular payment from Bravo. He also alleges that Cartwright earns significantly more than he does and that her actions have damaged his ability to secure future entertainment work. These are claims made in his filing, not findings established by the court.
Jax Says the Income Gap Is Too Wide to Ignore
Taylor reportedly told the court that Cartwright earns approximately $126,555 monthly, while he has no meaningful steady income after receiving his final Bravo holding-fee payment. He alleges that her public statements and contact with potential employers have affected his professional opportunities, leaving him dependent on his savings.
He is therefore asking the court to make Cartwright contribute to his financial support while the divorce proceedings continue. He is also seeking help with his legal expenses, reportedly requesting $250,000 in attorney’s fees.
The request has added another layer to a separation that has already involved disagreements over finances, custody and public allegations. It is certainly a reminder that when reality TV couples split, the drama does not always end when the cameras stop rolling.
From Marriage to Courtroom Financial Negotiations
Cartwright filed for divorce in August 2024, after the couple separated earlier that year. They married in 2019 and share a five-year-old son, Cruz. Their divorce has remained contentious, with both parties previously seeking restraining orders against each other. Cartwright has made allegations of abuse, which Taylor has disputed.
Taylor’s latest request also comes after he sought to be declared legally single while the financial and property issues in the divorce remain unresolved. That means the former couple could potentially have their marital status settled separately from the remaining financial disputes.
For now, the $17,000 monthly support request remains a request awaiting the court’s decision. Whether the judge will approve it is another matter entirely. One thing is clear: this divorce has moved beyond relationship disagreements into a serious financial contest, and the courtroom may have more episodes ahead than their reality television careers.
Buzz Legit FC will continue to follow developments in the Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright divorce, including the court’s response to the latest financial demands.
