The estate of late country music icon Dolly Parton has become the setting for a family and business dispute after longtime manager Danny Nozell sought a temporary restraining order against Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver. The petition alleges threats, intimidation and pressure for money, including messages in which Seaver reportedly referred to himself as a killer. Seaver disputes the allegations, saying the messages were private conversations taken out of context. The legal dispute was reported on September 22–23, 2026.

Seaver had served as Parton’s head of security for more than two decades, following his father, Larry, in the role. He was dismissed on September 15, about three weeks after Parton’s death on August 25, according to reports. The termination affected security arrangements at several of Parton’s properties, including her Nashville residence and museum. Seaver subsequently criticized the decision and said he remained committed to protecting his aunt’s family and legacy.
The restraining-order petition, filed by She’s Alive, LLC, which is run by Nozell, alleges that Seaver’s conduct escalated from angry business communications to threats against staff, legal advisers and business partners. The filing reportedly seeks to prevent him from interfering with the estate’s business and requires him to stay away from its offices. It also describes claims that employees and associates became sufficiently concerned about their safety to seek private security. These are allegations in a legal filing, not established findings of fact.

According to the petition, Seaver allegedly invoked his military-contractor experience, access to weapons and capacity for violence while making demands concerning money and business interests. The filing includes reported messages about damaging Parton’s brand, launching a podcast to expose business disputes and identifying himself as a killer. The legal documents also allege threats aimed at people connected with the estate and Dollywood.
Seaver has denied that his messages constituted threats. In comments reported by Buzz Legit fc ,he said he was a career soldier and security professional and that the exchanges were private conversations between grieving men, taken out of context. He maintained that some of the comments were about business partners he believed had treated Dolly unfairly. The court will be responsible for considering the allegations and any evidence presented by both sides.
The story also raises questions about the administration of Parton’s business legacy following her death. The reported dispute involves the people who managed her security, commercial relationships and estate affairs, while her longtime manager remains involved in overseeing the business.
