White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has opened up about her battle with cancer, expressing gratitude after being declared cancer-free and thanking President Donald Trump, her family, friends, colleagues, medical team and faith for supporting her through the difficult period. Wiles shared the reflection on X on Sunday as she looked back on her experience while continuing to work at the White House.
“I am incredibly grateful to be cancer-free, and even more grateful for President Trump, my family, friends, colleagues, medical team and faith that carried me through the hardest days,” Wiles wrote. Her comments followed her September 16 announcement that pathology results from a medical appointment at the Mayo Clinic had come back clear.
Susie Wiles Reflects on Difficult Months
Wiles was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in March and continued carrying out her duties as Trump’s chief of staff while undergoing treatment. In a recent essay, she described the experience as difficult but said her work and sense of purpose helped her navigate the period.
Her latest message focused on gratitude rather than the details of her treatment. Wiles thanked those who stood by her during the illness, particularly her medical team, loved ones, colleagues and people who prayed for and supported her.
Wiles Thanks President Trump for Support
Wiles also singled out President Trump for his support during her cancer battle. When her diagnosis became public in March, Trump described her prognosis as excellent and praised her commitment to her work.
Wiles has remained one of Trump’s closest White House aides throughout his second administration. Her decision to continue working during treatment meant she remained involved in White House operations while navigating her personal health challenge.
Cancer-Free Announcement Brings New Chapter
Wiles announced on September 16 that she was cancer-free after receiving clear pathology results following a Mayo Clinic appointment. She had previously said that she intended to continue working while undergoing treatment.
Her latest reflection places faith, family, medical care and the support of colleagues and the President at the centre of her recovery story. As Wiles returns her attention fully to her responsibilities at the White House, her experience has also highlighted the personal challenges that can accompany public service. OGM News will continue to follow developments surrounding the White House chief of staff.
