Carrot Top’s Saturday night comedy show at the Luxor in Las Vegas has been canceled as the veteran entertainer remains hospitalized, putting a sudden pause on one of the Strip’s longest-running comedy residencies. The 61-year-old comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was hospitalized on Friday, with his representative confirming that he is recovering and receiving the care and support he needs.
Carrot Top’s Vegas Comedy Weekend Comes to an Unexpected Halt
The cancellation means fans who were expecting another evening of Carrot Top’s trademark prop comedy will instead have to wait for further information about his return. His Friday performance was also canceled, turning what was supposed to be a routine comedy weekend into an unexpected break from the Las Vegas spotlight.
In true Vegas fashion, the show normally comes with plenty of lights, props and laughter—but this time, the most important thing happening away from the stage is Thompson’s recovery. Even the busiest entertainment calendar sometimes has to accept that health comes before the curtain call.
Fans Wait for the Next Update As Carrot Top’s Saturday Show Gets a Sudden Pause
Carrot Top has been a fixture at the Luxor for years, building a reputation around his energetic performances, distinctive appearance and prop-based comedy. Reports note that his Luxor residency dates back to 2005, making the sudden cancellation particularly significant for regular Vegas audiences.
His representative, Jami Schlicher, said Thompson is recovering in hospital and receiving the necessary care and support. She also expressed gratitude for the concern and prayers from fans while asking people to respect the privacy of Thompson and those closest to him. MGM Resorts likewise said it was relieved to hear that he was recovering.
For once, there is no punchline that needs to be forced onto the situation. The biggest headline is simply that the comedian is receiving care, while fans and colleagues wait for a clearer update about his condition and future performances. Further details about when he may return to the Luxor have not been confirmed.
Buzz Legit FC will continue to watch the story and bring readers verified updates as more information becomes available.
