Nine months after her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona, television journalist Savannah Guthrie is making another emotional appeal for information. And while the world continues with its daily routine, Savannah says her family is still trapped in a painful waiting game, desperately searching for answers.
The Today show co-anchor recently shared an old drawing made by her daughter, featuring an umbrella in the rain and a message that read, “I know it might not seem like it but I really need my mommy.” For Savannah, the childhood artwork captured exactly how she feels about her own mother’s disappearance. Sometimes, a child’s drawing can communicate a family’s pain more powerfully than a thousand television interviews.
A Family Still Waiting for Answers
In her November 1 social media post, Savannah explained that although life may appear normal from the outside, nothing has been normal for her family since Nancy disappeared.
She wrote that she and her loved ones continue to ache for Nancy and cannot move forward without knowing what happened. She also appealed directly to anyone who may have information, no matter how small it might seem.
Savannah described her mother as a light in the world and said the family wants to celebrate her life and give her the dignity she deserves.
The emotional appeal is another reminder that behind the television cameras, professional appearances and familiar morning-show smiles, the journalist is also a daughter desperately hoping for answers about her missing mother.
Investigation Continues as Reward Remains Available
Nancy was last seen on January 31, 2026, at her Tucson home and was reported missing the following day. Authorities believe she was taken against her will, and the FBI has released surveillance footage showing a masked individual outside her home.
Despite months of investigation involving the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI, no suspect has been publicly identified as of November 1.
Investigators recently confirmed that the task force continues working with laboratory specialists to advance DNA analysis. The family is also maintaining a reward of up to $1 million for information that helps bring Nancy home.
Savannah ended her latest appeal by thanking those who have supported the family and asking anyone with useful information to come forward.
For now, the Guthrie family continues to wait, hoping that someone somewhere holds a missing piece of information that could finally move the investigation forward.
Anyone with information about Nancy’s disappearance is urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip to the appropriate authorities.
