According to the administration’s account, Trump’s second term has produced major changes, including tighter border enforcement, tax cuts, increased energy production, manufacturing growth, new trade agreements and large investment commitments. The White House says more than $11 trillion in new U.S. investment has been secured and that more than one million private-sector jobs have been created during Trump’s second term.
But Trump’s claim has also attracted scrutiny because some promises remain disputed or incomplete. Recent fact-checking found that claims about ending the Russia-Ukraine war on the first day of his presidency and cutting energy costs by half within 18 months do not match the current record. Other claims, particularly concerning prices and employment, depend heavily on how the figures are interpreted.
When “Every Promise” Meets the Fine Print
The president’s declaration comes at an interesting political moment, with Republicans preparing for the 2026 midterm elections. Trump has been using his record as the central argument for keeping Republican control of Congress, while also making new promises, including a proposed $5,000 payment to American adults if Republicans win both chambers.
That latest promise has already raised eyebrows because Trump previously floated other dividend-style payments that never materialized. Recent reporting notes that proposals connected to DOGE savings and tariff revenue did not become the promised nationwide payments. In other words, the presidential scoreboard appears to have plenty of completed boxes — but the political opposition is still carrying a very large eraser.
