GRIEF, IVF and Family Heartbreak: Angie Kent Says Her “Whole World Had Been Stomped On”

Grief has consumed one of the most difficult periods of Angie Kent’s life, with the former Gogglebox star revealing that the past year brought the death of her father, upheaval within her family and an emotionally demanding IVF journey as she pursued her dream of becoming a mother on her own. In a newly published account, Kent described the experience as a period when she “wanted to scream/cry” and said it felt as though her “whole world had been stomped on.”

The timing of the events was particularly devastating. Kent had been waiting for her embryos to arrive in Brisbane when she learned that her father, Markos, was being moved into palliative care. Two days later, she watched him take his final breath. The moment brought together what should have been an exciting milestone in her journey toward motherhood with the loss of the man she desperately wanted to share that future with.

GRIEF Arrives Alongside a Long-Awaited IVF Milestone

Kent had spent months documenting her decision to pursue solo motherhood and had previously stressed that having a child on her own was not a “backup plan.” She said she had always felt that becoming a mother independently was the path that felt right for her, regardless of whether she was in a relationship. Earlier this year, she revealed that 14 embryos had successfully been frozen following her IVF treatment.

Grief became impossible to separate from that journey when the embryos were finally being transported from Sydney to Brisbane on April 28. That same day, Kent was told there was nothing more doctors could do for her father after his battle with a rare blood cancer. He died on April 30. Kent later described the timing as cruel because something she had been waiting for was arriving just as something equally precious was being taken away.

Family Dreams, Addiction and a Future That Suddenly Changed

Kent’s heartbreak extended beyond the loss of her father. Her latest account also details family turmoil, including her brother’s addiction, adding another layer to a year in which she was already dealing with major emotional pressure. She had envisioned creating a new and healthier version of her family, breaking what she described as generational patterns and building a future in which her parents could remain closely involved.

The loss of her father was especially painful because he had been excited about becoming a grandfather. Kent revealed that he had even chosen the nickname “Moppy.” She had planned to move back to the family home, with the idea of converting his garage into an apartment where she could live while raising her child. That future now exists only as a plan she once imagined with him.

Grief does not erase Kent’s hopes of becoming a mother, but it has changed the emotional landscape surrounding that dream. Her father is no longer able to share the milestone she had hoped he would witness, while Kent continues to navigate the complicated process of rebuilding after loss. Her story is ultimately one of two realities colliding: the arrival of a long-awaited possibility and the devastating departure of someone she expected to be there for it. Buzz Legit will continue following Kent’s IVF journey and her next chapter as she works through the loss while pursuing the family future she still hopes to create.
