Nielsen, the analytics firm compiling initial ratings, indicated that the figures are expected to rise further as more data becomes available. By comparison, the show averaged 1.42 million viewers across the 2024–2025 season, underscoring the heightened interest in Kimmel’s return.
The suspension, announced last week, followed comments Kimmel made about the man accused of fatally shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Disney and ABC cited his remarks as the reason for temporarily pulling him off the air.
