U.S. Senator Tim Scott has unleashed a colourful attack on the Democratic Party’s increasingly visible progressive wing, accusing Democratic socialists of taking over the party and joking that they are “cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.” Scott’s remark comes as Republican leaders seize on recent victories by progressive candidates as evidence that the Democratic Party is moving further to the left ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
The political cereal bowl is officially getting crowded.
