Rapper Macklemore is celebrating a major response to his newly announced Free Palestine Tour, revealing that all three of the tour’s initial shows sold out immediately after tickets went on sale.
The rapper announced that the Dublin, Paris and London concerts had sold out, saying he was “blown away” by the response. The three shows are scheduled for late October, with proceeds going to organizations supporting Palestinians.
Rapper Macklemore Says Fans Responded Quickly
Macklemore announced the tour shortly after his removal as an opening act from Ed Sheeran’s tour following his public comments supporting Palestinians. His new concerts are billed as Macklemore and Friends, with additional performers expected to be announced.
The first three shows are scheduled for Dublin on October 26, Paris on October 29 and London on October 30. Macklemore said the shows were put together to raise funds and create a platform for musicians who want to publicly support Palestinians.
The Rapper Says Art Can Be a Form of Resistance
In announcing the sellout, Macklemore said he believed musicians could use their platforms to stand in solidarity with Palestine and raise funds through live performances.
The tour follows weeks of controversy surrounding his departure from Sheeran’s tour. Sheeran has said the decision to remove Rapper Macklemore was made by the tour promoter rather than by him, while Sheeran has separately spoken publicly about the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
For now, Macklemore’s three European dates are officially sold out, while additional U.S. dates and the identities of the other artists expected to join him are still to be announced.
