Trump’s Oval Office Address on Charlie Kirk Assassination Hit by ‘Fake AI’ Claims

President Donald Trump, currently serving his second term, delivered a solemn Oval Office address following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The president’s remarks, however, became the subject of online speculation after a YouTube host suggested the video may have been generated with artificial intelligence.

Andy Signore, creator of the Popcorned Planet channel, posted a slowed-down clip of the address on X, claiming that Trump’s pinky finger “disappeared” during the edit. “Um that Trump speech was AI… His pinky disappears!” Signore wrote, fueling debate across social media platforms. He further criticized what he described as a double standard, comparing the alleged “edit” to the president’s past lawsuit against CBS over a “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris.

While the allegations quickly circulated online, digital media experts and many users dismissed them. Commentators pointed out that the effect was a simple Morph Cut—a common video editing tool used to smooth transitions between clips—rather than evidence of AI manipulation.

Trump administration Spokesperson Rebukes ‘Deranged Conspiracy’

The White House wasted little time pushing back against the claims, describing them as “a deranged conspiracy theory.” A spokesperson clarified that no artificial intelligence was used in the production of the address.

“President Trump recorded a heartfelt message following the tragic assassination of his dear friend, Charlie Kirk,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone sharing these baseless rumors should be ashamed of themselves.”

The official rebuttal aligned with social media users who highlighted the technical explanation behind the so-called glitch. “It’s very obviously a Morph Cut in Premiere Pro,” one user wrote. Another commented bluntly, “Lol it is very clearly not AI. Come on bro.”

A Nation in Mourning After Kirk’s Death

Beyond the controversy, the president’s remarks sought to comfort a grieving nation. Trump praised Kirk, calling him “a patriot who devoted his life to the cause of open debate and the country that he loved so much, the United States of America.” He described the conservative firebrand as “a martyr for truth and freedom” and emphasized Kirk’s faith and dedication to his family.

“Charlie was also a man of deep, deep faith, and we take comfort that he is now with God in Heaven,” the president said. He also extended condolences to Kirk’s wife, Erika, and their two young children, underscoring the personal loss to the family and wider conservative community.

The speech also carried a sharper message as Trump condemned political demonization and its role in fueling violence. “It’s long past time for all Americans and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequences of demonizing those with whom you disagree,” he warned.

Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed at Utah Valley University earlier this week while engaging with students. His death has shocked political circles and sparked renewed debate about campus security, free speech, and political discourse in America.
